You don't need to be extreme couponer to save money at the grocery store. Start small. Before you do anything, you need a plan. So plan your meals for the week. Go through your fridge and pantry to see what you have and what you need. By making a plan and creating a list, you'll feel a sense of purpose while at the grocery store and at home each night because you know the answer to, "What's for dinner? What's for dinner? What's for dinner?"Now
that you're armed with the list, try going to the grocery store with a buddy for support.
But not just any buddy. We all have a friend who always has our back. Someone who says, "You go girl! You deserve it!" As you can
imagine, she probably isn't the right choice for your purpose. You need someone who is as excited about saving money as you are.
Shout out to Gwen! As I mentioned earlier,go to the grocery store once a week. Making a menu plan for one week is manageable and
if your family is like mine, fresh produce is a must. I know they say shopping monthly can save a bundle, but where I come from bananas don't last that long. Also, go when you can concentrate.
Gwen and I would leave our husbands at home with sleeping kids for some peace and quiet once a week. It's girls night! Plenty
of chit chat, companionship and cutting costs.
Believe me it's so much easier to avoid the Oreos when there's not a crowd around. And a screaming toddler in the cart. "But they're on sale!" "Put them back." By having a plan, making a list, and sticking to it with the help of a friend, you'll keep your grocery trips to a predictable weekly outing where you prep to feed your family without chopping through your checking account.
